Terms & Conditions for the "[de]sign" Department of Economics Logo Design Contest
- These Terms and Conditions apply to "[de]sign" Department of Economics Logo Design Contest, which will be held from 13 July 2004 to 30 July 2004.
- By participating in this Contest, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions that are applicable to your interaction with the Department of Economics and your use of this site and the Department's facilities for the purposes of this event and the electronic and non-electronic exchange of data and possible electronic and non-electronic transactions between you and the organizers of this Contest. - Information on how to enter and on prizes forms part of these conditions of entry.
- Entry is only open to contestants of legal age (in accordance with the legislation of the relevant participant’s country/territory). A contestant may be an individual or group of people. The contestant must be a duly registered student of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (1st Semester, AY 2004-2005). The contest is open to all students, either from the College of Economics and Management (CEM) or not (a valid proof of registration may be required from the contestant to join and/or claim the prize.). All employees of DE and their immediate families, and its agencies associated with this contest are ineligible to enter.
- You are deemed to be aware of the risks of failure associated with submission of personal information over the Internet as well as through conventional/physical channels and you accept and bear such risks. DE presumes that the name(s), email address(es) and other information provided by the contestant is correct, and rightfully belongs to the participant, and DE will not be responsible for any errors in this respect.
- To participate in the contest, participants must create and submit their logo design following the published mechanics. Eligible entries must be received by an authorized representative at the DE Rm. 1 no later than 05.00 pm on 27 July 2004. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost, ineligible or misdirected entries. All times stated shall be according to Philippine time.
- All entries must be:
- The original independent creation of the participant;
- Owned by the participant; and
- Free of any claims or encumbrances, including without limitation any copyright or trademark claims, by any other third parties.
- All entries must not:
- Have been published previously;
- Have been submitted as an entry in any other competition;
- Have won any prizes or awards in other event or competition;
- Be subject to any restrictions as to use, publication, duplication, copying or in any way; or
- Infringe any third party rights.
- DE reserves the right to disqualify any entrant submitting an entry which, in the opinion of DE, includes objectionable content, including but not limited to profanity, nudity, potentially insulting, scandalous, inflammatory or defamatory images or language.
- It is a condition to the awarding of each prize that the winner must, if requested to do so by DE, sign and return any documentation confirming (a) Affirmation of Eligibility to Enter, (b) Ownership of Entry, and (c) Release and Compliance statements provided to the winner by DE. The failure to return any of the signed statements as requested will result in the entitlement to the prize being forfeited and DE reserves the right to select another winner.
- All entries become and remain the property of DE.
- The judging and selection of the winners will take place on 28 July 2004 to 30 July 2004. One (1) winner will be selected during the aforesaid dates. Winning entries will be judged by (but not limited to) a pre-selected panel of DE faculty and/or staff. Entries will be judged based on their compliance to the published mechanics, originality, aesthetic appeal and graphic composition. Judge’s decision will be final.
- The winner will receive PHP 2000.00 as Prize. Submitted graphic designs may be used for (but not limited to) publication and promotional printing by DE. Individuals involved in the Contest (including, but not limited to participants, judges and administrative staff) will be pre-determined by DE, and may be changed at DE’s discretion without any prior notice.
- The winner will be determined in accordance with the selection criteria stated above and such decision shall be final. No further correspondence shall be entertained. DE reserves the right to substitute a suitable prize of similar value in the event any prize originally specified is not available for whatever reason. Any taxes which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
- DE accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize value. The Prize is not transferable or exchangeable for any other item of equivalent or non-equivalent value.
- The winner will be notified by (but not limited to) an announcement from the Department anytime between 28 July 2004 and 30 July 2004. The winner must respond with his/her valid proof of student registration (in compliance with the published mechanics) within 10 working days of the announcement of the Department, failing which the winner shall forfeit the prize. In the event of such forfeiture, DE shall select another winner based on the selection criteria above or dispose of the prize in any way they deem fit. The Winner will be provided details on how to claim their prize at the time of notification. Notification will be verbal to the contestant himself/herself and/or written via email, sent to the email address provided by the winner. DE shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) in the delivery of the prize to the winner. Prizes must be claimed within 1 month of notification.
- By submitting your information to the Department, you hereby agree and consent to DE retaining and using all the data/information submitted by you in the application form and/or your design explanation essay for (but not limited to) its correspondence, publications, sales, marketing and promotional efforts, and to the furnishing of such data/information to DE-related entities and their agents for such purposes. You are required to provide all requested information accurately. If you do not provide the information, you cannot participate in the contest. DE may also use your information to contact you in the future for (but not limited to) marketing and promotional purposes. Your personal information may be disclosed to relevant authority and winners' names published as required under the relevant legislation. A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to DE at the address set out above.
- DE shall not be liable for any and all other costs, charges, expenses, etc incurred in relation to the above all of which are to be borne by you personally including, without limitation, the expenses, airtime, design costs, etc.
- DE shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury which is suffered or sustained, as a result of taking any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
- DE makes no representations or warranties as to the quality/suitability/merchantability of any of the goods/services offered as prizes. To the extent permitted by law, DE is not liable for any loss suffered or sustained, to person or property and including, but not limited to, consequential (including economic) loss by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by DE, or its servants or agents, in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods or services by any person to the prize winner. This clause does not affect, and is not intended to affect, any rights a consumer might have, which cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any liability of DE or its servant or agents for breach of any such rights is limited to the payment of the cost of having the prize supplied again.
- DE reserves the right to amend, withdraw or revise these rules and the prize at any time without notice and in such event DE shall not have any liability whatsoever. Persons who do not comply with these rules may be disqualified at DE's absolute discretion.
- If for any reason this Contest is not capable of running as planned including, but not limited to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of DE which corrupts or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest, DE reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest.
- DE is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any equipment related to or resulting from participation in this contest, including, without limitation, design and/or art equipment, telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the road, the Department or the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, (including but not limited to) any injury or damage to participants or any other person's computer and/or other equipment related to or resulting from participation in this contest.
